I have been taking Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil capsules for a few years  for my hot flushes. They reduced my flushes so well. When I visited another shop , I was talked into buying another brand of evening primrose oil instead of Efamol. The salesperson said it would be just as good. It (the hot flushes)  all turned to custard - I was on fire in bed - hot flushes came back dreadfully. I felt terrible also - mood was low and my mood swings came back again. I would never have believed it. If I had never done the change of brand I would have been fine. I went back and bought the Efamol off Nicola Johns  and it has taken three weeks to feel quite good again. The flushes are reducing now. I'm on Efamol brand for life.

 About two months ago, my 14-year old Yorkie terrier had surgery to have a tumour removed that was protruding out from underneath her stomach. She came through it all with flying colours. I am aged sixty-four, a man in generally good health but with a tendency towards undefined stomach upsets. About three years ago I was prescribed Pepcidine for the burning sensations produced by gastric reflux. For a while this eased the symptoms but did not seem to address the cause of the troubles. Sometimes the Pepcidine worked, yet on other days it didn't. An endoscope exam found no ulcer or obvious cause of the problem. Doctors asserted the gastric reflux may be cured by a hiatus hernia repair, but nobody was recommending it and I quickly decided to try a less fearsome approach.

Nicola Johns suggested that Superdophilus night be helpful. I started taking half a teaspoon a day, which I believe is a rather modest dose. Within a short time I did notice an overall improvement in comfort.

I persisted with Superdophilus for about a year. During this time stomach pain lessened but didn't disappear completely. I suspect that conditions in our body do not remain static, but change with time as a result of many factors and perhaps for this reason when I changed from Superdophilus to Bulgaricum I noticed further improvement in comfort.

Then about eighteen months ago, I changed to the formulation Trenev Trio. It takes a while, about three or four months before anything noticeable happens, so patience is needed. But the results over the next year and a half were dramatic in retrospect. Stomach pain, indigestion, irritable bowel settled into a new harmony.

A few months ago, as things had improved so much, I decided to stop taking Trenev Trio. It is rather expensive so there is a good motivation to stop taking it if it isn't doing any good. I had my answer within three days; the pains came back, familiar and unwelcome. I immediately resumed the Trenev Trio. The pains went away again. Evidently it was doing something essential so I am more than happy to continue taking it.

A brief word about gastric reflux, indigestion, stomach pain. Those who have never suffered from this might be tempted to think it is merely an 'inconvenience'. True, it isn't life-threatening, but it is totally quality-of-life destroying. Life palls, it saps your energy. Finding a cure is not so easy, but the above combination and particularly Trenev Trio has worked well for me.

In March 1999, after undergoing a gastroscopy, I was diagnosed with bile reflux gastritis. To ease the symptoms of this condition the specialist prescribed two Losec (sometimes Somac) and four Cisapride (Prepulsid) daily. I subsequently learned that I was on a very high dose rate for this condition, however if I reduced the daily amount of tablets the uncomfortable symptoms would return.

Approximately a year later and still on the same dosage I was told by a friend about Nicola Johns at Probiotics NZ and in particular the Natren products that were available. I contacted Nicola who recommended three powders - Bulgaricum for the stomach and reflux and Superdophilus and Bifidonate for the small and large intestines.

For  4 years I had various symptoms which I believe now were all related to a lack of the right bacteria in my system. My symptoms began in this order: depression - I could manage my life only just; constipation - I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome; vaginal thrush infections; bad breath; and fungal skin infections on my hands and wrists. I have been taking Natren products for almost 2 years and have achieved a great improvement in an oesophageal ulcerous condition which has been confirmed by gastroscopy examinations. Over the past five years, I have been on a 'journey' discovering natural remedies that cure my minor ailments that have plagued me for a number of years. From thrush to fatigue I seem to have run the gamut of illness.

I met Nicola two years ago, through the recommendation of a friend, who said that Nicola had prescribed a treatment that had rid her of thrush. My cholesterol level was nearly nine (8.8), probably because of some stress I was under, and my doctor told me I would probably have to go onto drug medication which I was reluctant to do. Under Nicola's guidance I took some supplements that she recommended and changed my diet a little by reducing some of the saturated fat products like cheese and butter. I took 4 or 5 Efamarine capsules each day, Green Magma drink, One Trenev Trio a day and Natren's Bulgaricum morning and night. Nicola told me in the beginning that my cholesterol level might rise for the first 3 or 4 months as the cholesterol came out of my cells into the blood. Then it would lower. It is about 15 months later and I have just received a test from my doctor and my cholesterol level is 7 which he is happy about and I don't need to go on the drugs. I will continue the supplements and diet changes as I am used to this lifestyle now.

My father who is 78 years old, had bladder and prostate cancer when he was 62. He has had an ostomy bag since and has had continual infections ever since and has been living on antibiotics. I have taken Efamol for years and was put on that brand by Nicola. I take 3 capsules every day - I have to have it, I can't go without it. I suffered from Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS) and use it for that. If I don't take it I turn horrible. If I haven't taken it I notice my energy drops within a day. It keeps you on an even keel. Sometimes I have to increase it to 4 capsules one to two weeks before my period depending on my moods and how I'm feeling. It gives me a good skin too. I can't cope without it, I'd be lost. Before I took Efamol I would be fine one minute then someone will say something and it would set you off. I could get angry with my kids, lose my temper and the worst was bursting into tears especially after the 14th day, mid-cycle. Now that doesn't happen.

I used Efanatal before and during breast feeding as well as at 4 months for bottle feeding. I had a history of eczema and my baby developed eczema when first on bottle formula. The eczema cleared within days of taking it. No rashes or spots and has a good complexion now. It helped development as well. When my baby started on formula I started Lifestart at the same time to help the immune system . When given antibiotics at 5 months there were no side effects because of the Lifestart. It has helped the dairy and wheat intolerance, ear infections and nasal congestion. Also there is no colic now.
