The Importance of Green Foods
Green foods, including leafy vegetables, grasses and algae – have always been a staple part of the human diet – and that of most mammals on earth. However many of us are eating less and less of these foods, and have often replaced our ‘greens’ to a great extent with processed foods and a higher dietary intake of sweet foods.
Most green foods are also a source of important vitamins, minerals, trace minerals and amino acids (the ‘building blocks’ of protein). All green foods also provide the body with a very important plant pigment called chlorophyll and are often rich in enzymes – plant nutrients that are now understood to perform many important functions in the human body.
The Experts in Green Nutrition
Dr Hagiwara’s original formula since 1969- fresh from his fields
Green Magma is certified organic extract of young Green Barley Juice – available either as a powder or tablet form. Dr Hagiwara’s Green Magma has been grown by their farmers and made in their own factory for nearly 50 years. Dr Hagiwara discovered that young barley grass “is one of the most nutritionally balanced foods in nature providing bio-available vitamins, minerals and amino acids”. It is a rich source of chlorophyll.
Dr Hagiwara and GreenFoods
For over 40 years, GreenFoods has been the world-wide leader in the green foods category. To date, their products have been sold in 52 countries throughout the world. GreenFoods goals for the future are to continue to spread the benefits of barley to new countries, while reinforcing their commitment to the environment, to their customer’s wellbeing, and to Dr. Hagiwara’s original mission. Dr. Yoshihide Hagiwara began his career as a research pharmacologist and was responsible for the development of several successful drug formulas. However, due to personal illness Dr Hagiwara began a search for a “fast food” that could help his recovery. Eventually, after many years of research and the study of more than 200 plants he concluded that young green barley leaves was “one of the most nutritionally balanced foods in nature” and “the ideal fast food for the human race.” Consumers report a dramatic increase in energy, increased regularity, and better looking hair, skin, and nails.
In order to capture and protect the delicate nutrients and enzymes in freshly harvested young barley grass, Dr Hagiwara developed and patented a unique juice extraction process that earned him Japan’s prestigious Science and Technology Award. Otherwise the active ingredients can be destroyed by heat or acidity. This process makes possible Green Foods powdered, nutrient-rich Green Magma®, first developed in Japan in 1969.
Natural vegan healthy Green Magma is made from organic Barley Grass Juice, USDA organic certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI). Their barley grass is grown in the USA without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
How many times have you heard the recommendation to eat your greens?
Vegetables are known as superfoods – we consider them one of the healthiest foods we can eat. Our health may be greatly benefited by the green colour. Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants that gives them this colour and plants contain lots of it. Any part of the plant that is exposed to light makes chlorophyll. Plants trap light energy from the sun (sunlight), which is then used to combine carbon dioxide and water into sugars in the process of photosynthesis for fuel energy that a plant can store and use to grow. Chlorophyll is the chemical that permits this transformation. The structure of chlorophyll is nearly exactly the same as haemoglobin, the molecule that carries oxygen in our blood, except that chlorophyll has a magnesium molecule in its middle while haemoglobin has an iron molecule. There have been many benefits described by eating foods rich in chlorophyll. Chlorophyll consumption increases the number of red blood cells and, therefore, increases oxygen utilisation by the body. Another function of chlorophyll may be to inactivate the actions of moulds. Reference: Joel Kahn, M.D Author of The Whole Heart Solution. Professor of Cardiology. Green Magma also contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, carotenoids, flavonoids, as well as chlorophyll, and other valuable phytochemicals that support every system of the body.
How to take?
Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of Green Magma or 3 to 6 tablets on an empty stomach 15 to 20 minutes before eating (or anytime your stomach is empty). It takes longer for Green Magma to pass through the stomach if it’s taken same time as or after eating. Green Magma powder can be mixed with cold water or juice. Caution: Do not take with hot liquids since heat will neutralise active enzymes. It is popular take in the morning and afternoon.
