Published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) in January 2022, was testing vitamin D 2000 IUs daily and marine omega-3 fatty acids 1 g daily in a study of more than 25,000 adults, treated for more than 5 years. The main goal was autoimmune disorders, conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, thyroid disease.
Conclusion:
Provides evidence that daily supplementation with 2000 IU/day vitamin D or a combination of vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids for five years reduces autoimmune disease incidence.(22% for Vitamin D ,(accounting for latency was 40% reduction) and15% for Omega Fish Oil)
The clinical importance of these findings is high because these are well tolerated, non-toxic supplements, and other effective treatments to reduce the incidence of autoimmune diseases are lacking.
