What is meant by microflora?
Approximatly 100 trillion microorganism live in our gastrointestinal tract. These are: 400 to 500 different types of intestinal bacteria, intestinal fungi and various protozoa. They all form the intestinal flora. The intestinal flora provides an acidic intestinal environment. It is from high importance that the "good" and "bad" bacteria are at equilibrium, so that the intestinal flora actually supports our body. This is so important because up to 80 percent of our immune cells live in the intestine. The genitals, such as the vagina are colonized by natural microorganisms.
The Health of the Urinary Tract.
Darmflora* plus URO contains three carefully selected probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14® , Lactobacillus reuteri 1E1, Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001), as well as biotin, which contribute to a healthy mucous membranes and thus, to healthy bladder, urinary tract and vaginal flora. Further, Darmflora* plus URO supports the normal functioning of the immune system with the help of the vitamin B12. Biotin supports a normal energy metabolism and contributes to healthy mucous membranes and thereby, to a healthy urinary tract and vaginal flora.
Darmflora plus® URO is an active complex specially tailored to women’s needs. It combines the microbiological supply of three specifically selected strains of lactic acid bacteria with a functional vitamin duo. The preparation has been specifically developed to provide nutritional support for the mucous membranes of the urogenital tract – i.e. the bladder, the urinary tract and the vaginal area – as well as the immune system.
Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes (e.g. of the bladder, urinary tract and vaginal tract).
Vitamin B12 contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system. Can I take this alongside a course of antibiotics?
Yes, this is entirely possible and is recommended from a nutritional perspective. As antibiotics place a heavy strain on the balance of beneficial flora throughout the body (i.e. in the gut and on the sensitive mucous membranes of the urogenital tract), a targeted nutritional intake of selected cultures is advisable during this phase.
Time interval between doses: To prevent the antibiotic from inactivating the beneficial lactic acid bacteria directly in the gastrointestinal tract, a safety interval of at least 2 hours should be observed between taking the medication and the capsules.
